HOW TO ADULT WITHOUT DEBT

HOW TO ADULT WITHOUT DEBT

1. Live on a budget, work hard and save money

It really is that simple, living on a budget is crucial if you make $100 or $500,000, you always need to know where your money is going.
Go to work everyday and do your absolute best. Respect and responsibility go a long way when you work your tail off at your job.
You should ALWAYS save 15% of your income. Yep, I know it is painful, but you can do it!

      2.   Stay away from credit cards, student loans and debt in general

When you turn 18 the opportunities for debt are going to be showing up everywhere! A large percentage of credit card company advertising is geared toward your age group.

God has absolutely no future plans for you that involve debt. If you think God is calling you to go into debt to pursue His calling, then you better check again. God wouldn't ask you to go against His book.

Bible verses about budgeting, saving and debt

Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
Romans 13:8

The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.
Proverbs 22:7

For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?
Luke 14:28

Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.
Romans 13:7

Be not one of those who give pledges, who put up security for debts.
Proverbs 22:26

If you lend money to any of my people with you who is poor, you shall not be like a moneylender to him, and you shall not exact interest from him. If ever you take your neighbor’s cloak in pledge, you shall return it to him before the sun goes down, for that is his only covering, and it is his cloak for his body; in what else shall he sleep? And if he cries to me, I will hear, for I am compassionate.
Exodus 22:25-27

    3.   Pick the right friends

Have your parents ever told you to be careful who you spend your time with? Well, you have to take that with you all the way through life. If you hang out with the wrong crowd, eventually you will be like them. That is equally true when it comes to debt. It is a lot easier to not keep up with the Joneses when you aren’t BFF’s with them.
Pick your friends by their character, love of God, integrity, work ethic, positivity, giving and financial choices.
*This rule applies to your future spouse as well.*

The righteous should CHOOSE HIS FRIENDS CAREFULLY, for the way of the wicked leads them astray Proverbs 12:26

As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend. Proverbs 27:17

Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety. Proverbs 11:1

A wise man is strong, yes, a man of knowledge increases strength; for by wise counsel you will wage your own war, and in a multitude of counselors there is safety. Proverbs 24:5

       4.   Give your time and money
God calls us to be good stewards of our money and time. We are to give 10% (at least) of our income and our time too! Generosity is contagious, give of your income and your time to others and you will be shocked at the changes that take place in your life. Giving to others is a large part of what keeps your life in balance, plus it makes you a more positive person, keeps you humble and gives you perspective.

Give to others, and God will give to you. Indeed, you will receive a full measure, a generous helping, poured into your hands—all that you can hold. The measure you use for others is the one that God will use for you. Luke 6:38

You should each give, then, as you have decided, not with regret or out of a sense of duty; for God loves the one who gives gladly. 2 Corinthians 9:7

The bigger the harvest the LORD gives you, the bigger your gift should be. Deuteronomy 16:17
The wicked borrow and never pay back, but good people are generous with their gifts.
Psalm 37:21

When you give to the poor, don’t let anyone know about it. Then your gift will be given in secret. Your Father knows what is done in secret, and he will reward you. Matthew 6:3-4

Suppose there are brothers or sisters who need clothes and don’t have enough to eat. What good is there in your saying to them, “God bless you! Keep warm and eat well!”—if you don’t give them the necessities of life? So it is with faith: if it is alone and includes no actions, then it is dead. James 2:15-17

Command those who are rich in the things of this life not to be proud, but to place their hope, not in such an uncertain thing as riches, but in God, who generously gives us everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share with others. 1 Timothy 6:17-18

But don’t forget to help others and to share your possessions with them. This too is like offering a sacrifice that pleases God. Hebrews 13:16

You should be happy to give the poor what they need, because then the LORD will make you successful in everything you do. Deuteronomy 15:10

I have shown you in all things that by working hard in this way we must help the weak, remembering the words that the Lord Jesus himself said, ‘There is more happiness in giving than in receiving.’” Acts 20:35
